Gertrude McFuzz

Design Ideas:

• Blue Dress or leotard and colorful skirt
• Matching Feathers for collar and tail
• Full Skirt to allow space for tail to grow on stage
• Head band with feathers or pony-tail clips
• Matching sneakers or jazz/ballet shoes
• *Add glasses to give her a quirky look

Gertrude's dress is designed to allow her tail to grow on stage. Below is a simple video on how to alter the dress. Please let me know if you have specific questions or concerns.

Cat in the Hat

Design:

• White long sleeved dress shirt with a button down collar
• Black dress slacks
• Black Jazz shoes/no sneakers (can be purchased at Capezio Dance, Payless, or online)
• Black suspenders
• *AOSJ will provide Seuss hat and red bow-tie

Child (Jojo)

Design Ideas:

• Overalls or skirt with leggings
• Yellow tee-shirt
• Yellow ribbons or yellow baseball cap
• Sneakers & long striped socks

Horton

Design Ideas:

• Hunting Hat
• Grey pants
• Grey plaid shirt
• Matching Suspenders
• grey sneakers or black jazz shoes-from capezio or payless shoes

Mayzie Labird

Design Ideas:

• Gitzy Red Dress with tool and sequins
• Attach Feather Boas to dress to make her amazing tail
• Skin colored tights
• Black Character Shoes
• Large Feathered Head Band

Jungle Citizens

• Black base with animal prints
• Girls- tights with shorts or leggings are ok
• Boys- Black pants, and jungle shirt
• Jazz Shoes, ballet flats, or dark tennis shoes
• AOSJ will provide jungle head scarves

Mr. Mayor

• Black Dress Pants
• White long sleeved, button dress shirt, button down collar
• Yellow Suspenders or yellow jacket
• Yellow Top Hat
• Large Bowtie
• Black dress shoes or black jazz shoes

Mrs. Mayor

Talk Show Host

• Add a feather boa, sunglasses
• AOSJ will provide a microphone prop

On-Stage Camera Operator

Design Ideas:

• Same dress requirements as the Jungle Citizens
• Add a "Press Hat" and trench coat or similar style for the scene
• AOSJ will provide a camera prop

Fish

* Pre-K, K, and 1st graders will not wear fish costumes, but will remain in their who costumes. The fish will be cut outs attached to dowel rods and held up during the performance. Mr. Parkes will be creating these fish with the art classes.
